BRAKE / CLUTCH COMBINED MASTER CYLINDER (Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite Parts) (1958- 61)

Here's a new Combined Brake & Clutch Master Cylinder for the following models from Austin -

AUSTIN HEALEY

Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite  (1958- 61)

This is only for the above models which should have this combined type Master Cylinder.

(Make sure you still have the original Front Drums - Not a Font Disc conversion from a Midget).

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS 

(** Do Not use a Pressure / Vacuum bleeder when fitting a Master Cylinder or a Repair Seals Kit - It destroys the seals. Bleeding must be done ONLY with the Foot Pedal **)

(** Once installed - Ensure there is a bit of play in the Master Cylinder Push Rod. The piston must be able to go right to the end of the cylinder so the seal on the Fluid Reservoir Pot can open & close correctly **)

FAULT FINDER

1) Works Intermittently if you keep pumping or the pedal just goes straight to the floor but there's never any fluid loss. The Reservoir Seal or it's spring are faulty - You may see the fluid in the pot swirling or bits or rubber in the pot.

2) Keep getting 'Air' out when bleeding - The Master Cylinder Rod is to long or the piston is stuck halfway down. This means the piston can't return fully to the end when the foot is off the pedal so the Reservoir Seal can't open enough to replace what's been bled / leaked out of the Brakes.

3) Foot goes halfway down before anything happens - Master cylinder bore size is to small OR Reservoir seal or it's spring are not working properly at lower brake fluid pressure. (Don't get the Clutch & Gearbox out - It wont be that).

4) Fluid leaking out of the Master Cylinder - Perished Main Seal.
