CAM FOLLOWERS BUCKETS LIFTERS TAPPETS SET x16 (Triumph TR8 Parts) (3.5 Litre, V8) (1978- 81)

Here’s a new set of Hydraulic Cam Followers (x16) for the following cars with a Rover V8 engine -

TRIUMPH

Triumph TR8 (3.5 V8 & 3.5 V8i)      (1977- 81)

(Not TR7- Only TR8)

(These will not suit the Stag unless you have put in a Rover V8)

(The dimensions so you can check are - Diameter 20mm, Height 50.7mm)

You can often hear a ticking from the engine that gets more frequent as you go faster (Particularly on TVR's with a Rover V8). This means the cam followers could do with replacing.

Also, if you are replacing / uprating the camshaft you must also replace the cam followers.

These Cam Followers are the same for the inlet and exhaust, they are quite easy to fit – you don’t have to take of the cylinder heads, timing chains or drain the oil or water.

Here's how - The engine is V shaped and you start in the middle by removing the carbs / injection and then the inlet manifold. Then remove the rocker covers and the rocker shaft with it’s rocker arms and then pull out each pushrod and the cam follower it stands on. Drop in the new cam follower after soaking it in clean oil (ESSENTIAL!!!). There is special Cam lube oil you should use but engine oil will suffice.

Don’t put the push rods back into holes they did not come out of or swap the rocker assembly over – Everything must go back as it was. You should re-assemble with a new inlet manifold gasket.

The cam followers will rattle for a few seconds once you start the engine- Don’t rev it until they have pumped up with oil and gone quiet.
