Here's some Fitting Instructions from the Manufacturer -

Don't try to remove the old Ring Gear by knocking it off sideways, this could damage the small lip on some flywheels.

The old Ring Gear should first be split with a hacksaw or by drilling - then opened with a chisel.

When expanding the new Ring Gear it must be heated slowly and uniformly and never to above 200 degrees C. An oven or heater is the best way, the manufacturers don't recommend using a blow lamp (But everyone does).

After placing the new expanded ring gear on the flywheel it should be tapped into place with a copper hammer or an ordinary hammer with a wood drift. The Ring Gear should be left to cool slowly in air - Never quenched in water or even with an air fan. Hurried cooling may cause the Ring Gear to crack.

The correct position for the chamfer on the teeth must be observed. The Chamfer should be on the leading edge of the teeth in the direction of rotation and should be on the side of the ring to which the starter pinion approaches.

It is always advisable to check the pinion shaft to see if it's bent and that the starter pinion teeth are free from damage and that it moves freely intro the engaged position.
